>From my experience the GFS weather model is pretty terrible below a few km
altitude in the Adelaide region.
According to a friend who runs his own weather prediction service (
https://skysight.io/) it's because neither the GFS model (or the BOM's
internal model for that matter) take into account the effect of sea-breezes.
