I do have gpsd installed but I dont know alot about programming ,
maybe I could just run that at startup if need be to set the time
initially and close it , I understand about

Possible... A better solution there would be for
me to finally add support for gps data via GPSD, as GPSD already
has the ability to discipline the system clock via NTP. However,
this is only useful if the 1pps line is connected. GPSDs time
service manual notes that the jitter resultant from using timing
based on the start of the NMEA packet burst can result in fairly
inaccurate timing. Anyway, something to look into...

Hi Mark

Another question ... is there a simple way to add a
button on chase mapper for the gps to update the clock
when used offline , (on the raspberry pi)

I see plenty of ways to do it, on the net, but as
chasemapper has already gps data coming in , is it worth
an addition to the program.
